We are currently recruiting for a Contracts Attorney to join PACT’s Legal Department and report to PACT’s Associate General Counsel.

What You Will Do:

This role will support PACT’s Research and Development organization as well as other departments within PACT and will include drafting, negotiating, and tracking a high volume of contracts. Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts (which may include confidentiality agreements, consulting agreements, materials transfer agreements, license agreements, simple and complex clinical trial agreements, advisory board agreements, consulting agreements, and various vendor services agreements and master agreements)
  • Manage PACT’s contracts database
  • Identify and define operational and legal risks and be able to communicate those risks to appropriate internal decision-makers for discussion and resolution
  • Interact with internal clients efficiently and effectively to address legal and business questions
  • Interface with research institutions and research vendors to facilitate materials transfer, collaboration, and confidentiality agreements
  • Interface with discovery and development vendors to facilitate master services agreements and task orders
  • Handle miscellaneous legal tasks on an as-needed basis

Qualifications Include:

Education:

  • BS/BA degree, preferably in life sciences or a related field
  • JD degree required and preferably admitted in California

Experience:

  • Preferably requires 2-5 years of experience as an attorney in a law firm or in-house legal environment in the biotechnology or pharmaceuticals industry
  • Contract drafting and negotiation experience required
  • Contract database use and management required

Skills:

  • Demonstrated advanced understanding of business concepts and principles
  • Advanced knowledge of legal concepts and principles as they relate to contractual matters
  • Experience managing projects with an organization
  • Strong organizational and planning skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact in a team-oriented environment required
  • Ability in managing vendor relationships, and direct contract resources
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while exercising initiative, flexibility, and good judgment
  • Strong desire to improve processes and grow
  • Ability to maintain and properly handle highly confidential information
  • Computer skills including proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
