Job Description

Reports to a deputy general counsel. Responsible for handling one or more of the following: litigation, business operations/transactions, procurement support, pension law, retirement plans revisions and investments, environmental law, tax, trademark, collections and bankruptcy matters.

Job Qualifications

Initial professional law degree (Juris Doctorate/ JD) from a recognized and accredited law school. Member of the bar of the highest court of a state or the District of Columbia.

5 years legal experience as a licensed and practicing attorney. Specific area(s) of legal experience may be required by the hiring manager.

associate must successfully complete the health insurance and portability accountability act of 1996 training, course code 249f, concerning the handling of personal health information as required by HIPPA within 3 months of occupying the position. until training has been completed, the associate may not perform any duties relating to personal health information.

Additional Qualifications/Requirements

Major duties
Provides legal review of proposed business agreements, procurement actions, contract claims, contract enforcement and dispute resolution.
Practices preventive law, which may include developing and conducting educational sessions regarding prevention of litigation and, recommend changes to policy impacting The Exchange.
Provides analysis of current and proposed laws and policy and provides counsel to The Exchange directorates.

5 years legal experience as a licensed practicing attorney, with at least 3 years business transactional law.

Major Duties

Represents the Exchange in various settings including federal and workers comp litigation, EEO and adverse action hearings.
provides legal review of proposed business agreements, procurement actions, contract claims, bankruptcy/consumer credit issues, congressional and command inquiries, collections, tort
practices preventive law, which may include developing and conducting educational sessions regarding prevention of litigation and, recommend changes to policy impacting the exchange.
provides analysis of current and proposed laws and policy and provides counsel to exchange directorates.
