The Legal & Policy Team is Snap’s dedicated in-house law firm, policy consultant, lobbyist, thought partner, and all-around advisor. This team helps Snap do the right thing the right way, make better decisions, understand and manage risks, and creatively navigate challenges, both external and internal. We partner with Snap team members on a wide array of matters, including privacy, product, IP, commercial transactions, corporate governance, employment, acquisitions, litigation, and policy, and social impact. We’re looking for a Senior Counsel to join Snap Inc’s Employment Legal team! As a member of the Employment Legal team, you’ll provide strategic advice and legal counsel regarding employment law issues globally. Working from our Los Angeles or Bay Area offices, you will partner closely with other employment attorneys and cross-functional partners across the globe.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide employment law counseling, advice, and day-to-day support for the People Team on a variety of employment issues (including employee relations, internal investigations, performance management, and terminations)

  • Develop and support implementation of employment policies (including hiring practices, leaves of absence, accommodations, wage and hour, compensation, and benefits) to ensure best practices and compliance with applicable laws and regulations

  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including the Legal and Executive Teams, to provide strategic, business-oriented employment law guidance for successful execution of company initiatives

  • Collaborate with the People Team to generate and implement trainings on HR and employment law topics

  • Provide legal guidelines and support regarding the company’s contingent workforce and agency workers

  • Investigate and respond to federal and state administrative complaints (including EEOC and local agency charges)

  • Lead and manage litigation related to employment matters

  • Support merger and acquisition transactions and related integration of employees

  • Draft, revise and advise regarding employment-related agreements (including offer letters, confidentiality and intellectual property agreements, and separation agreements)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication and analytical skills with demonstrated strategic thinking, creativity, and risk analysis

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and business judgment with a dedication to teamwork, integrity, and collegiality

  • Proven track record to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

  • Flexibility and willingness to approach legal challenges with an entrepreneurial mentality and a desire to learn and grow as the company’s needs evolve

Minimum Qualifications:

  • J.D. from a nationally recognized law school

  • Active membership in the CA state bar, or otherwise qualified to be a registered in-house counsel under California’s multi-jurisdictional practice program (and valid RIHC license, if required)

  • 8+ years experience practicing California and federal employment law

  • 6+ years of employment counseling and litigation experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior law firm experience

  • In-house experience at a U.S. multinational company

  • Global employment law experience

  • M&A experience
