Hi, we're Oscar. We’re hiring a Litigation Counsel to join our Corporate Counsel team.

About the role:

Oscar’s Litigation Counsel is a key member of the Legal team responsible for driving dispute resolution strategy and execution working with multiple departments at the company, spanning offices across the country.

You will report into the Senior Litigation Counsel. This is a remote role, you will work remotely in one of the following states: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, or Washington. Note, this list of states is subject to change.

Responsibilities:

  • Primary attorney for a variety of complex litigation matters, involving day-to-day management of docket from inception to fact-gathering to ultimate resolution
  • Responsible for core litigation work, including legal assessment and analysis, preparing and/or editing case material, drafting correspondence, and negotiating and documenting agreements 
  • Responsible for cross-functional work on discovery preparation and response
  • Work autonomously with business clients, legal colleagues, outside counsel and opposing parties to achieve cost-effective, strategic business objectives
  • Project management relating to development, implementation and continual improvement of processes and procedures
  • Responsible for handling third party discovery and subpoenas

Requirements:

  • Attorney in good standing with J.D. from an ABA accredited law school and at least 4 years of relevant experience at a top tier law firm and/or in-house
  • Experience working in the health insurance industry and understanding of payer-provider issues
  • Experience litigating a variety of complex disputes on both plaintiff and defendant side
  • Experience and understanding of end-to-end litigation process, legal research, eDiscovery, and contract drafting and interpretation

Bonus points:

  • Litigation experience in Florida, California, Texas, and/or New York jurisdictions
  • Experience with startups
