Hi, we're Oscar. We're hiring a Director, Senior Counsel to join our Legal team.

About the role

You will be a key member of the Legal team responsible for counseling regional teams on statutory/regulatory obligations, advising on provider relationship and contracting strategy, and providing thought leadership to further Oscar's success in the Southeast region. You will work closely with Oscar's Market P&L Team and Oscar's leadership team.

You will report to the VP, Regulatory Counsel and Government Affairs. This is a remote / work-from-home role. You must reside in one of the following states: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, or Washington. Responsibilities

  • Analyze and distill complex legal issues into easily understandable content so Oscar can move corporate goals and objectives forward in the Southeast region
  • Draft, revise, review, and negotiate agreements with Southeast region provider organizations and networks
  • Be a subject matter expert on regulatory and industry developments, including identification and assessment of regulatory developments and related risks/opportunities
  • Provide daily legal advice related to Oscar's Individual and Small Group lines of business, including broker/agent administration, corporate licensure, and state exchange and 1332 waiver program obligations
  • Be the legal advisor on matters before state and federal regulatory bodies, including product and network filings
  • Provide subject matter expertise to further the development, implementation and continuous improvement of company and legal team processes and procedures

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an ABA accredited law school
  • Law license in good standing in Florida and the ability to register as In-House Counsel in NY State (NY bar admission is not required)
  • 10+ years of relevant experience at a top tier law firm and/or in-house

  • Experience providing counsel to Third-party Administrators and Utilization Review Administrators
