Technology systems, corporate structures and working environments are all affected by the values we choose to embed.
We are sensitive to the reality that we are supporting people in dealing with legal issues that are often delicate and confidential. We also strive, through our values, to buck the status quo perception that lawyers and the legal system are confusing, costly and sometimes even scary.
We choose, therefore, to embed a core set of values and operating principles in our work, our technology, and in our interactions with our broader community.
Our culture fosters values of transparency, diversity, responsibility and intentionality, towards each other and towards the communities we identify with. We seek to build relationships that endure and software that serves a greater purpose. We are non-hierarchical: we challenge each other and society's status quo. We experiment, measure, learn and share in a spirit of collaboration.
As data-protection lawyers and engineers with a background in other highly-regulated industries, we also maintain a deep respect for privacy. Our decentralized, federated technology infrastructure is designed to enable private information to be shared only with the organizations that you trust, and we will never share your data without your consent.
We strive to also balance autonomy with the benefits of being part of a strong community: Legal.io is part of StartX, a network of Stanford's top entrepreneurs, and we regularly attend events and workshops where our team can learn and receive feedback. Our main offices are located in the San Francisco headquarters of the Embassy Network, a global community of shared-living spaces for creatives, professionals and modern nomads traveling the world for projects and collaborative opportunities. All of our team members receive Embassy Network membership, including full access to events and shared community resources.
