What we're looking for:
This person will play a major role in predicting, managing and overcoming legal challenges the business may encounter. This person will act as the company's legal representative and will ensure the company operates within the law at all times. The successful candidate will be able to manage the impact of external factors and limit risk exposure.
What this person will do:
- Promote legal, compliance and risk management best practices throughout the company
- Communicate with and manage any third-parties such as outside counsel or auditors
- Design and deliver legal training to locations across the country
- Stay up-to-date with changes to legislation, particularly in relation to laws, rules and regulations that directly affect the healthcare and tech industries
- Estimate risks in advance
- Proactively look for solutions to mitigate risks
- Liaise with executive staff
- Comfortable working in a fast paced start-up environment
What qualifications are necessary:
- Applicants must have a JD and CA bar number
- Preferably 5-7 years of experience in-house as a General Counsel or at a big law 100 firm
- Structured mindset, highly organized, great attention to detail, self-starter, and passionate about building and scaling a business
- Strong critical thinking and communication skills is a must
- Ability to develop legal strategy and objectives
- Ability to predict and prevent legal issues and risks
- Strong moral and ethical principles
- Excellent judgement and analytical skills
