Core Responsibilities
Work with other Legal, Compliance & Risk Management (LCR) lawyers, specifically the lawyers located in Denmark and the UK who help to guide the global retail strategy for later local execution in the Americas region.
- Manage legal projects and/or workstreams in support of the LEGO Group’s global retail expansion and digital transformation, including, but not limited to:
- E-commerce expansion (TLG’s own e-comm + possibly via third party
- .com transformation
- LEGO Brand Retail store expansion
- LEGO Certified Store expansion
- Changing License Model to Franchise Model, if possible
- Travel Retail expansion
- Supply chain optimizations to support all of this
- Training 3P partners on stewardship and compliance – others would handle training on the IP issues
- Documents legal processes and work output in legal knowledge management tools.
- Act as subject matter expert on legal issues relating to the retail business for the LEGO Group
- In close collaboration with the VP and General Counsel, Americas and other LCR team members in the Americas region, drive and support the retail agenda for the Americas from a legal perspective.
- Manage internal and/or external stakeholder relationships to optimize work effectiveness.
- Demonstrate a high-level of collaboration, knowledge- sharing and process optimization to accomplish tasks
- Conduct training of internal stakeholders and third parties regarding guidelines and policies for the LEGO retail business.

The LCR Americas Team is a regional team responsible for handling legal tasks and issues originating from business units and areas within the geographical area of the Americas, including the US, Canada, Mexico and Latin America. The Americas Team routinely collaborates with other LCR Teams on certain functional matters (e.g. compliance matters, risk and/or insurance matters and IP matters) as well as the two other regional teams whenever the geographical scope of a particular task extends beyond the Americas region. As is the case for all other LCR teams, the Americas Team seeks to maintain a focus on tasks and issues of a strategic and high value nature, and its top priority at any given time is to support defined LEGO Group commercial strategic priorities.
We are looking for new talent to join the team… do you have what it takes?
- Law School Degree (J.D., LL.M. or equivalent)
- Minimum 5-7 years of (post graduate) global experience from in-house or private practice within the general commercial legal work field.
- Previous experience working with, a.o., (i) retail business; (ii) e-commerce; (iii) franchise law (iv) digital marketing, (v) GDPR or other data privacy legislation and/or (vi) competition compliance matters.
- Proven track-record in negotiations and stakeholder management at mid level.
- Solid experience drafting and reviewing complex commercial contracts within a variety of areas.
- Legal curiosity as well as appetite and ability to learn new skills and acquire new knowledge.
- A positive mindset and a distinct can-do attitude.
- Be able to travel within the Americas region. Some travel must be expected, likely not to exceed 30 days per year.
