Lockheed Martin’s Sikorsky business is seeking an Associate General Counsel to support its Future Vertical Lift (FVL) market segment, one of five market segments at Sikorsky. Sikorsky is a Line of Business within Lockheed Martin’s Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS) business area that focuses on rotorcraft design, production and support. This position will report to the Sikorsky General Counsel and is located in Stratford, CT at the Sikorsky headquarters (remote work is approved during the current pandemic, but the position is anticipated to require location in Stratford, CT in the future). The FVL market segment is responsible for capture efforts and program execution of Future Vertical Lift programs across the U.S. Government. Among other programs, this includes the Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA), Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft (FARA), and Joint Mutli-Role rotorcraft program. This includes all aspects of major aircraft capture efforts, as well as managing complex teaming agreements and executing Other Transaction Authority (OTA) agreements.

Major responsibilities include:

Acts as integral member of FVL leadership team to partner with clients through the provision of sound legal advice and risk mitigation measures to ensure successful business outcomes.

Requires very high level of US Government contracts knowledge and experience to achieve business objectives, resolve complex legal issues, and collaborate in business decision-making and risk mitigation.

Assists with pursuit, negotiation, performance and eventual close out of major U.S. Government prime contracts, teaming agreements and supplier negotiations.
Significant experience in identifying and managing bid protest risk on complex procurements.

Deep experience, judgment, and ability to work independently as well as with teams.

Strong communication skills (written and oral) for clients and executives.

Provides autonomous problem solving and decision-making, with the experience to know when to elevate issues for resolution by the Sikorsky and RMS General Counsel.

Ability to develop strong client relationships while maintaining an independence appropriate to a compliance function.

Provide internal training to clients and colleagues as necessary and to support diversity and inclusion initiatives as well as other business-wide initiatives related to continuous improvement.

MUST BE ABLE TO OBTAIN A SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE
Basic Qualifications:
JD degree from an accredited law school and admitted in good standing to a state bar as a practicing attorney.

Minimum 7 years of experience as an attorney in a law firm, in-house counsel or government agency.
Desired Skills:
10+ years of experience in a law firm, government agency, or major defense contractor legal department engaged in U.S. Government contracting/procurement.

High level of U.S. Government contracts (FAR/DFARS) knowledge and experience
Experience in complex negotiations with the U.S. Government, suppliers and teammates
Experience in the aerospace industry
