Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Associate Legal Counsel with significant transactional, audit, and regulatory experience to join our dynamic and growing legal team. This can be a remote position, with the option to work at our office space in Stockton CA or Hayward CA. The ideal candidate is extremely organized, thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, has excellent drafting and negotiating skills, possesses flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, and is a collaborative team player. The ideal candidate is also energetic, eager to learn about the company, and has a “roll up the sleeves” attitude. As an Associate Legal Counsel, you will make significant contributions to the development of our vision.

. Requirements:

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Manage and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to the transportation industry, including providing legal assistance with audit, regulatory, and compliance initiatives;
  • Assist in development of policies and practices based on federal, state, and local legal regulations and requirements;
  • Identify and resolve complex regulatory, legal, and business issues;
  • Provide timely legal, concise and business focused review of variety of complex commercial agreements;
  • Partner cross-functionally to scale and continuously improve standard form agreements and legal processes;
  • Oversee outside counsel on litigation matters; and
  • Build processes and forms to improve the legal department’s efficiency and the company’s operating efficiency.

Qualifications Needed:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required;
  • Significant experience in the transportation and logistics industries, including significant experience with the Department of Transportation and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations;
  • Exceptional academic credentials, admitted into and in good standing with at least one state bar;
  • 8-12 years of transactional legal experience at a major law firm or in-house, with a focus on representing client in transportation industry;
  • Strong track record negotiating and advising on a range of complex commercial agreements;
  • Proven ability to deliver clear, business-oriented legal advice in a fast-paced atmosphere;
  • Able to timely deliver accurate work product with minimal supervision;
  • Demonstrate excellent judgment, analytical ability, critical thinking and risk management skills; and
  • Flexibility in task prioritization with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
