About You and The Role

Zipline is searching for a well-rounded lawyer who has the skills and willingness to be a legal "Swiss Army knife" supporting Zipline's core legal function. You will help manage and tackle a high volume of corporate, commercial, employment, regulatory compliance, and general legal counseling requests, and be a thought partner and contributor in scaling Zipline's legal function around the world. You will work closely with, and under the direct supervision of, Zipline's Deputy General Counsel.

A wide variety of growth paths for this role exist within Zipline depending on your skill set/interests and Zipline's business needs. These paths include growing into Zipline's lead commercial or corporate counsel, developing deep geographical expertise in a given region, becoming the primary legal partner to several critical lines of business, building Zipline's global legal operations, and/or broadening your generalist skills by developing regulatory, dispute resolution, or compliance subject matter expertise.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with almost every Zipline team to clear legal hurdles that arise from their role: from Supply Chain to Go-To-Market to People Ops to Finance to Engineering
  • Draft and negotiate supply chain, technology transactions, licensing, facilities/real estate, customer and other agreements with vendors, suppliers, and other partners
  • Advise Zipline on corporate law matters including corporate governance, foreign investment regimes, and securities compliance
  • Advise and support Zipline's general & administrative function on challenging issues found at the intersection of Legal, People Ops, and Finance (e.g., personnel, insurance, global mobility, foreign entity formation, international tax, etc.)
  • Create and implement "thoughtful, repeatable, and defensible" processes and systems to support all aspects of Zipline's legal operations
  • Support regulatory and compliance activities for key aspects of Zipline's business activities, both in the US and abroad (e.g., international risk compliance, export control, privacy and data protection, healthcare, etc.)
  • Pinch hit for members of the Legal team, helping to creatively and efficiently address novel questions that come up each day across our global business

What You'll Bring

  • You have the legal chops and quick mindedness to handle a wide range of matters, providing clear and actionable legal advice to a variety of audiences
  • You have detail-oriented, business-friendly, and highly tactical contract drafting skills
  • You are willing to get in the weeds and dive headfirst into whatever pressing issue or challenge is facing the business, regardless of familiarity or interest
  • You communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) and build strong relationships with internal business teams and external stakeholders
  • You are organized and efficient with an ability to work independently, prioritize and follow through in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • You have the grit, resourcefulness, and resilience to thrive in novel, uncertain and constantly-changing business and regulatory environments
  • You can keep legal advice simple, and the same time have the ability to "show your work" and dig deeply into critical legal questions with the rest of the team
  • You have the enthusiasm to proactively and passionately drive Zipline's business forward by solving multiple complex problems on a daily basis
  • You believe deeply that access matters and that we can and will provide access to essential medical supplies for every person on the planet

What Else You Need to Know

  • JD Degree required
  • Member in good standing of at least one state bar
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
