Senior Litigation Counsel

Flynn Restaurant Group (together with its subsidiaries Apple American Group, Bell American Group, Pan American Group, and RB American Group) seeks an exceptional litigator to serve as Senior Litigation Counsel, reporting to the General Counsel.
This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic and growing in-house legal department that directly handles many of its own litigation matters. You will be responsible for your own docket of cases in California (bonus if you are a member of any other states bar) and also will oversee outside counsel in non-California jurisdictions. Typical cases include: tort, commercial, real estate, and employment.
Responsibilities

Litigate! You will lead your own cases, from initial investigation through discovery and trial. You will interview witnesses, take depositions, handle motions practice, engage in pre-trial dispute resolution, and go to trial. This job is perfect for a litigator ready to leave behind law firm billable hour and business development requirements, but still wants to be in the courtroom

Close collaboration with outside counsel on non-California litigation matters

Manage and conduct internal investigations

Risk and compliance assessment, in coordination with HR & Risk Departments

Internal advice and counseling across a broad spectrum of legal issues

Support on diligence and commercial/contract matters

Remain up-to-date on relevant industry and litigation-related laws to ensure an ongoing ability to provide excellent legal advice

Devise processes and procedures to help support a growing legal department and business

Travel involved
Requirements
-
10+ years of litigation experience

Juris Doctor from an accredited law school; California Bar admission in good standing

Extensive experience running all facets of litigation, including counseling parties and witnesses in a variety of pre-dispute and dispute resolution contexts

Ability to manage a large number and variety of cases

Entrepreneurial mindset that enables you to successfully work independently with little guidance, but also to use good judgment and escalate issues when needed

Ability to operate as a team player who can effectively work with andmanage legal staff and business clients cooperatively and efficiently

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Sound and practical business judgment and good old-fashioned common sense
