The Assistant General Counsel's primary responsibilities will be:

• Assist in the oversight, management, and resolution of potential healthcare claims and pending healthcare litigation;
• Assist in investigations related to potential claims and litigation;
• Oversee and manage external counsel with significant involvement in answering written discovery;
• Provide risk/exposure analysis with respect to claims and interface with insurance carriers;
• Monitor the internal environment to identify trends and risks, and advise on applicable laws, regulations and guidance
• Advise and counsel colleagues in other functional areas on risk management and other matters;

Profile

• 3+ years working in a law firm or in-house in insurance defense or personal injury litigation
• Prior healthcare litigation and risk management practice with significant client interaction
• Experience managing external counsel and coordinating with insurance carriers
• Member in good standing of appropriate state bar (Illinois)
• Excellent analytical skills
• Ability to exercise sound judgment, spot issues, and develop appropriate and timely solutions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to provide clear, concise analysis and recommendations on complex issues
• High level of integrity and professionalism
• Ability to handle multiple tasks both independently and collaboratively
