Job Description

Overview:

Condé Nast’s Legal & Policy department is seeking a Junior Legal Counsel to work as liaison to the company's consumer magazines, entertainment division, websites and trade publications.

Primarily Responsibilities:

  • Advise magazine personnel regarding intellectual property rights
  • Negotiate license agreements with third parties
  • Review and approve terms of freelance agreements negotiated by editorial personnel
  • Analyze rights in archival materials
  • Abstract license agreements
  • Handle copyright infringement matters
  • Training and advising permissions staff, accounting and editorial departments


Requirements:

  • JD and bar admission required
  • At least 1+ years’ work experience in a relevant field


Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate has intellectual property experience in an entertainment environment (e.g., photography,
video/motion picture industry, music, etc.)
  • Ability to produce quick, accurate and effective results, excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation
techniques are essential to this role
