Position Summary:

Blue Raven Solar's Paralegal will support in-house legal counsel starting May1st, 2021, on a diverse range of corporate matters, including: drafting and reviewing contracts and litigation documents, posting policy updates and company-related communications, performing legal research and responding to requests for information, filing state and local taxes and regulatory reports, assisting on insurance matters, and supporting company sales and compliance programs at the direction of the General Counsel. The majority of the work is performed in a professional office setting with a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities and abilities interfacing and communicating constantly. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Regular periods of sitting or standing may be required by this position. In addition, this position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel should be expected with this role as well. Candidates may be hired for this specific position, but are ultimately hired as employees of Blue Raven Solar. Essential Duties:

  • Effectively manage a daily schedule to complete several time sensitive tasks
  • Investigate and gather the facts of any relevant casework
  • Conduct research on solar laws, regulations, and legal articles specific to each geographic market where required
  • Organize and maintain documents in paper or electronic filing systems
  • Gather and arrange evidence and other legal documents for review and case preparation
  • Write or summarize reports to help in-house legal counsel prepare for trial
  • Draft correspondence and legal documents, such as contracts and litigation documents
  • Obtain affidavits and other formal statements that may be used as evidence in court
  • Help in-house legal counsel during trials by handling exhibits, taking notes, or reviewing trial transcripts
  • File exhibits, briefs, appeals and other legal documents with the court or opposing counsel
  • Call clients, witnesses, lawyers, and outside vendors to schedule interviews, meetings, and depositions as needed

Other Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare written reports that help in-house legal counsel determine how to handle their casework
  • Communicate and coordinate with various corporate office departments as needed
  • Catalog and review documents for specific keywords or subjects.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Paralegal certification, and five-ten years of corporate experience.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of the major responsibilities, accountabilities, and organization of the legal function or department.
  • Above average time management skills and experience taking ownership in a multifaceted environment
  • Knowledge of state solar laws, regulations and court rules governing the process and procedure of an action involving the Court and the ability to take action on any aspects of litigation as requested by in-house legal counsel

Key Competencies:

  • Ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from legal and factual information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Type 55 WPM
  • Have working knowledge and experience with Microsoft office Suite products
