Exelon seeks to hire an Associate General Counsel for Litigation (AGC), based in Washington DC or Baltimore. The AGC will lead a team of litigation attorneys and legal professionals in the Washington DC/Baltimore/Delaware region; support Exelon’s business units in all areas of litigation, including oversight of high impact litigation and internal investigations; and lead or assist in proactively managing and mitigating litigation risks across the company. We’re looking for an experienced litigator with expertise in commercial and/or government-facing matters, who is ready to lead a diverse team of professionals in a high-paced, high-impact business environment
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Associate General Counsel - Litigation (AGC) will lead a team of litigation attorneys and legal professionals in the Washington DC/Baltimore/Delaware region; support business units across the company in all areas of litigation, including commercial, tort, and government-facing matters; and lead or assist in proactively managing and mitigating litigation risks across the company. The AGC will oversee high impact litigation and internal investigations, including, where appropriate, directly representing the company in judicial, regulatory, and arbitral forums. The AGC will report to the company’s Vice President and Deputy General Counsel – Litigation.
Qualifications
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Minimum:
An LLB or JD from an accredited law school.
Admitted to practice law in Maryland or admitted to practice in Washington DC with a requirement of admission to the Maryland bar within the first 12 months of employment.
At least 12 years of litigation experience, including significant experience leading complex civil litigation.
Exceptional oral and written communication and advocacy skills and superior legal judgment in the business context.
Self-motivated, strong work ethic, and the ability to independently and efficiently manage a portfolio of litigation matters, including under challenging deadlines.
Ability to lead a diverse team of attorneys and legal professionals.
Preferred:
Significant experience in successfully leading a diverse team of attorneys and legal professionals.
Experience in managing outside counsel, including strategic and tactical guidance, staffing, case management, budgeting, and alignment with broader corporate legal strategy.
Experience litigating on behalf of or against the government preferred, but not required.
Experience with Energy or Utility industries.
