Position Summary
The Senior Counsel position works under the direction of and reports to the Assistant General Counsel – Competitive Businesses within the Transactions and Commercial Operations group. The position will be transactions focused and will provide legal support to the AEP Energy competitive business units that are engaged in the development, acquisition and operation of renewable generation assets (solar and wind) throughout the U.S. Areas of responsibility will include (i) drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of project related agreements including letters of intent, purchase and sale agreements, joint venture agreements, development agreements, engineering and procurement contracts, renewable energy power purchase agreements, real property related agreements, equipment purchase agreements, energy services agreements, and operations and maintenance agreements), (ii) conducting project due diligence, (iii) and providing legal and strategic advice to management.
Skills/Experience
The Senior Counsel will ideally have relevant legal experience in the renewable energy industry, knowledge of the distributed generation sector, and the ability to work successfully with team members in a fast-paced work environment. The Senior Counsel should be self-driven, team oriented, be able to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, and be comfortable interfacing and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including external counsel, customers, facility and land owners, and strategic partners.

Minimum Requirements
Minimum Qualifications for Senior Counsel:
Education: LLB or JD from an accredited law school.
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience, Grade 10. Minimum of seven (7) years of experience, Grade 11. Admission to practice in one or more states, preferably including Ohio.
