Responsibilities

Lisa A Duran & Associates, insurance staff counsel for State Farm insurance companies, is seeking an experienced paralegal to join both the Tucson and Tempe offices. As such, the ideal candidates can be housed out of either location. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to generally supporting attorneys with disclosure/discovery, trial preparation, and pre-trial motions in first and third party insurance defense cases. Experience in reviewing and summarizing medical records would be helpful. The most qualified candidates will have the ability to communicate effectively, work independently, and prioritize workload in a fast paced and time sensitive environment. Hours for the position are full-time Monday-Friday with some flexibility as to the hours.

Based in Tucson and Tempe, AZ, we enjoy an active and busy civil trial practice. We provide a congenial, team-oriented, and professional work environment with skilled support staff.

Qualifications
  • Paralegal degree, certificate, and/or paralegal education
  • 1-3 years of paralegal litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense or personal injury environment
  • Familiarity with Court Rules and Procedures
  • Experience with disclosure/discovery process
  • Trial preparation familiarity
  • Ability to draft routine motions, discovery, and legal memoranda
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology and records
  • Ability to review medical/other records and produce record summaries
  • Understanding of internet information resources and software applications with the ability to develop greater automation
