Meta seeks an experienced and highly motivated team player to join as a Paralegal on the Brands and Marketing Legal Team. The position will work with stakeholders across the company to support multifaceted marketing and promotions initiatives, conduct marketing legal review of related collateral, and provide organizational and substantive support on trademark matters for the Facebook portfolio. Paralegal, Brands & Marketing Legal Responsibilities
 
  • Review marketing, sales, and promotional materials for advertising, intellectual property, and company policy compliance for our domestic and international markets
  • Clear creative content for copyright, trademark, right of publicity, and privacy
  • Assess advertising claims substantiation, prepare disclosures, disclaimers, and support sweepstakes, contest, and promotional offers
  • Draft, review, and negotiate releases and license agreements related to marketing collateral
  • Support the naming clearance process by assisting in trademark clearances
  • Provide concise, contextually nuanced, and actionable feedback and collaborate with stakeholders across the company where needed or based on guidelines
  • Maintain knowledge resources, develop marketing best practices, process improvements, and conduct related compliance trainings
  • Apply project management techniques and tools to plan and lead small and large-scale undertakings
  • Assist with other projects and workflows as needed, including brand permissions, trademark prosecution and enforcement, and team operations
Minimum Qualifications
 
  • Bachelor’s or Associate's degree
  • 3+ years of experience performing legal review of marketing and promotional initiatives
  • Knowledge of intellectual property rights (copyright, trademark, and right of publicity) and consumer protection laws and regulations applicable to marketing collateral and initiatives across regulated industries and channels (e.g., online, broadcast, retail, telephone, and social media, etc.)
  • Experience serving as primary point-of-contact and collaborating and engaging cross-functional stakeholders to help drive timely resolution to issues
Preferred Qualifications
 
  • Relevant experience on an in house legal team and experience working directly with product and marketing teams
  • Experience working with web, app, social networking, or internet companies
  • Experience with managing international portfolios, as well as app store, marketplace, and internet enforcement
  • Knowledge with trademark search tools, databases, and docket systems
  • Experience planning independently, organizing, and prioritizing time and deadlines to complete assigned duties
