Lime’s growing legal team is looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious Associate Legal Counsel to work closely with our Legal Director, Regulatory Affairs on regulatory compliance matters across the EMEA region. This role sits within the newly created Governance, Regulatory, Insurance and Compliance function within the Legal department. In this role, you will advise upon the regulations affecting Lime’s business (including its products) across EMEA and help produce playbooks, strategies, policies and risk analyses on the same. You will provide legal advice across many subject areas and work on a wide range of cutting edge regulatory issues including RfPs, new market entry, new product launches, contracts with cities, disputes with cities, regulatory challenges and regulatory investigations. The ideal candidate will have experience in a regulatory compliance team at a firm or in-house, with in-house experience at leading technology, automotive or product led companies highly valued.
 
We are a remote first company and welcome applications from anywhere we operate in the United States, with preference for Warsaw, Berlin, or Amsterdam.

What You'll Do:

    • Work closely with the Legal Director, Regulatory Affairs, EMEA and with other members of the Governance, Regulatory, Insurance and Compliance team and wider Legal team
    • Ensure Lime's compliance with regulatory requirements and contractual commitments working closely with the City Solutions, Public Policy and Government Relations teams, Product and Engineering teams and the Regional and local Operations teams
    • Keep up to date and ensure lime’s compliance with new legislation and market developments Develop creative approaches to managing legal risks, building internal systems, policies and processes to improve outcomes
    • Work closely with our Engineering, Product and Design & Trust & Safety teams to ensure legal compliance across our products throughout the product development lifecycle
    • Help Lime launch compliant hardware (electric scooters, bikes & other new modalities) in new markets
    • Work closely with regional counsels across EMEA on regulatory compliance issues including contractual arrangements with cities, regulatory challenges, disputes and investigations

About You:

    • Fully qualified and practicing lawyer in at least one European jurisdiction;3+ years  relevant post-qualification experience in private practice or in-house;
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, other European languages a big plus;
    • Experience advising on formal regulatory enquiries/investigations with European regulators;
    • Experience in working for or advising international businesses on multi-jurisdictional matters and comfortable working across different legal jurisdictions;
    • Ability to work well under pressure with diligence, organisation, and minimal supervision, and provide practical, business-friendly advice to stakeholders;
    • Strong analytical and strategic skills; ability to drive issues to a quick resolution that factors in many non-legal variables, such as brand-risk, communications, government relations, tax, insurance, finance and other business units;
    • Positive attitude, high level of integrity and intellectual curiosity: a willingness to learn new skills and take on greater levels of responsibility;
    • Ability to anticipate legal issues or risks and to build the processes and systems to prevent them from occurring.
