What you’ll be doing...

Verizon seeks a professional with experience as a policy advocate who will be responsible for developing public policy positions on tech policy and an array of societal policy issues. This entry-level analyst position is part of the Public Policy and Government Affairs organization. Candidates must have strong relationships with community organizations and understand the key policy and legislative issues affecting disadvantaged communities. Experience working with civil and human rights organizations, public interest groups, or social justice advocates is welcomed. This position provides the opportunity to work individually and as a part of a team to achieve goals.

  • Support the company’s policy goals on social justice, diversity, and digital equity and participate in outreach and policy education efforts with stakeholders, local communities, and peer companies.
  • Research federal and state policy legislation on various issues that impact Verizon's stakeholders, including a range of issues at the intersection of technology and digital equity.
  • Develop programmatic initiatives to enhance Verizon's reputation and advance shared goals with key stakeholders, including execution of special events and in-kind donation opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal groups and external stakeholders to develop policy solutions to address issues that uniquely impact marginalized communities.
  • Prepare messaging and advocacy materials to educate external communities about the company’s policy positions and mission in a way that ensures relevancy, effectiveness and understanding for external stakeholders.

This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or one or more years of work experience.
  • One or more years of social justice advocacy experience.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Experience in stakeholder management.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
