8x8, Inc. is seeking an experienced transactional attorney to support sales of its communications services to business customers. The focus will be on the review, drafting and negotiation of outbound commercial transactions.
The ideal candidate will have a background in the negotiation and drafting of technology and other transactions, including experience supporting B2B sales teams throughout the contract negotiation lifecycle, with a mix of law firm and in-house experience.
This position will be based remotely in the US.
Responsibilities
- Partner with all segments of the company’s Sales department to review, draft, and negotiate outbound transactions with business customers of all sizes, from small business to enterprise segments.
- Assist drafting and enforcing company policies and procedures relating to sales transactions.
- Lead and contribute to projects relating to designing and implement revenue transaction-related processes and tools.
- Support the company’s Channel group in projects relating to the company’s referral partners and resellers.
- Assist in other legal tasks as needed.
Requirements
- 5+ years as a practicing attorney (including 2+ as a transactional attorney focusing on outbound/sales contracting).
- Strong academic credentials and J.D. from a nationally recognized law school.
- Current member in good standing of a state bar.
- Proficiency in pragmatically gauging legal and financial risk and weighing such risk against company needs and objectives.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and to manage a substantial work load of routine, time-sensitive transactions while still completing large-scale projects in accordance with desired timelines.
- Ability to effectively communicate and build productive relationships with Sales personnel.
- Experience in assessing the “fastest path to close” within appropriate risk parameters, and guiding Sales personnel accordingly, a plus.
- Experience serving as liaison/negotiator between Sales personnel and other internal stakeholders/approvers (e.g., Finance, Information Security, Development Operations, etc.) a plus.
- Technical understanding of networks, cloud computing and VoIP or telecommunications regulations a plus.
- Ability to develop business-friendly solutions and provide practical legal advice and recommendations to business stakeholders.
- Willingness to work closely and collaboratively with employees at all levels across the organization.
- Ability to think practically and creatively -- must enjoy problem-solving and be motivated by finding solutions to daily legal challenges
