Responsibilities

Role Purpose  
NBCUniversal is seeking a Paralegal/Contract Specialist to join the legal team that supports all aspects of content production and acquisition for Peacock and the NBCUniversal Entertainment Networks.  Working closely with the attorneys and administrative staff, the paralegal/contract specialist will provide support and assistance to the group’s legal counsel on a wide range of matters relating to the drafting, negotiation and oversight of production service agreements, insurance, indemnities, talent contracts, production policies and licensing agreements for film, television, news, sports, live events and original programming. Successful candidates will be attentive and detail-orientated, and possess strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to communicate effectively.  This role will report to a division Vice President.

Job Duties:
  • Independently draft and review various legal form agreements and correspondence with regard to a range of contractual matters and clients.
  • Conduct research and prepare and draft memorandum and summaries on various contractual and legal provisions, rights and intellectual property matters.
  • Partner with business executives and colleagues on cross-functional teams and act as a resource to others in the company on matters relating to the division.
  • Identify opportunities for increased efficiencies and collaborations within the division’s business and legal affairs team, focusing on developing policies, procedures and best practices across the divisions and implementing improvements to forms and processes.
  • Other matters as needed at the direction of the division’s General Counsel and its Senior Vice President.

Qualifications/Requirements

Basic Qualifications
• 2+ years of experience as a paralegal in the entertainment industry, preferably with experience in business affairs and/or legal affairs department at a major studio or production company.
• Extensive experience in contract management, data entry and document assembly.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Outlook, Excel, and Word).
• An understanding of and demonstrated familiarity with the licensing and contracting practices related to the entertainment industry and intellectual property.
• Ability to exercise discretion with sensitive information and flexibility/adaptability to manage multiple, wide-ranging matters, conflicting deadlines, and new areas of expertise as business needs change.

• Strong academic credentials, including Bachelor’s Degree and/or Paralegal Certificate.
• Database and contract management experience.
• Outstanding analytic, communication and organizational skills, including excellent drafting and negotiation skills and an attention to detail.
• Ability to effectively and concisely communicate with constituencies both inside and outside the legal function
• Ability to work independently based on general guidance and experience; and ability to handle multiple simultaneous assignments in a fast-paced environment.
• Pro-active, collaborative, team-oriented approach.
