Coordinator, Music Licensing
Responsibilities
Role Purpose
This role will be supporting the Film Music Licensing team in all aspects of music clearance and licensing for 15-20 motion picture releases annually, along with the expanding slate of original programing for DreamWorks Television, as well as associated marketing campaigns. Attention to detail and excellent organization skills are required.
Job Duties:
- Assist with music clearance through to completion of licensing and payment, including: reviewing scripts to identify music and/or lyrics requiring clearance; researching music ownership; securing and negotiating music quotes from labels, publishers and music libraries; tracking rights, monitoring music budgets; maintaining and reviewing clearance reports; collecting and reviewing song credits; and ensuring accurate legal delivery of music clearance documentation
- Populating and manage song information in the Rights Clearance system
- Maintain a tracking system for all phases of the licensing process, forward licenses received to in-house personnel for review & execution, follow up on all outstanding licenses and distribute copies of finalized licenses & payments to Legal Files
- Draft master use, synchronization and performance licenses, as needed
- Organize and maintain film project files, retrieving and sending files to archiving center
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
• Music clearance experience with an understanding of publishing and recording rights including, for example writer / territory splits, samples and side artists and the effect they have on clearance
• Knowledge and understanding of copyright (publishing & recording) as it relates to the music industry
