Associate General Counsel, Security Legal

Posted Mar 14 Meta is seeking a talented, dedicated, and experienced attorney to join the Security Legal team. This is a unique opportunity to have regional and global impact while working on cutting edge products and novel legal issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment across a range of complex regulatory, privacy, safety, security and user data issues. The role requires sharp analytical skills, good judgment, strong work ethic and communication proficiency, a keen interest in learning and working with new technologies and laws across jurisdictions and timezones, and the ability to work independently as well as with large multi-stakeholder teams.
Associate General Counsel, Security Legal Responsibilities
- Develop and implement effective policies for processing legal requests and protecting user data
- Develop strategic approaches to managing regulatory, criminal and policy legal risks and resolving disputes
- Provide security, safety, and privacy legal guidance on a wide range of product developments, including private messaging products, e-commerce/payments related products, and business products
- Work closely with the company’s safety and security teams to protect the people who use our service from abuse
- Support legal and public policy teams’ engagement with regulators and legislators on safety and security policy
- Collaborate with members of Public Policy, Legal, Community Operations, Product, Engineering and others on safety and security matters
Minimum Qualifications
- J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar
- 8+ years of legal experience, including at a law firm and/or in-house experience
- Experience managing and handling legal and regulatory issues
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience advising technology or telecommunications companies as in-house or outside counsel on regulatory, safety and security matters, investigations, policy and/or criminal process
- Experience with the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, Stored Communications Act, General Data Protection Regulation, and other analogous U.S. and international laws
- Experience providing guidance to providers in responding to law enforcement requests
- Experience with Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty requests or other forms of international cooperation
- Experience managing teams and leading cross-functional efforts
