Meta is seeking a talented, dedicated, and experienced attorney to join the Security Legal team. This is a unique opportunity to have regional and global impact while working on cutting edge products and novel legal issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment across a range of complex regulatory, privacy, safety, security and user data issues. The role requires sharp analytical skills, good judgment, strong work ethic and communication proficiency, a keen interest in learning and working with new technologies and laws across jurisdictions and timezones, and the ability to work independently as well as with large multi-stakeholder teams.

Associate General Counsel, Security Legal Responsibilities

Develop and implement effective policies for processing legal requests and protecting user data
Develop strategic approaches to managing regulatory, criminal and policy legal risks and resolving disputes
Provide security, safety, and privacy legal guidance on a wide range of product developments, including private messaging products, e-commerce/payments related products, and business products
Work closely with the company’s safety and security teams to protect the people who use our service from abuse
Support legal and public policy teams’ engagement with regulators and legislators on safety and security policy
Collaborate with members of Public Policy, Legal, Community Operations, Product, Engineering and others on safety and security matters

Minimum Qualifications

J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar
8+ years of legal experience, including at a law firm and/or in-house experience
Experience managing and handling legal and regulatory issues

Preferred Qualifications

Experience advising technology or telecommunications companies as in-house or outside counsel on regulatory, safety and security matters, investigations, policy and/or criminal process
Experience with the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, Stored Communications Act, General Data Protection Regulation, and other analogous U.S. and international laws
Experience providing guidance to providers in responding to law enforcement requests
Experience with Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty requests or other forms of international cooperation

Experience managing teams and leading cross-functional efforts
