Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in a policy, legal, or technology environment.
  • 2 years of experience working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience with the technology sector and policy issues affecting the internet (e.g., content moderation, privacy, free expression).

Preferred qualifications:

  • JD, MBA, or Master’s degree.
  • Experience with the development and maintenance of policy.
  • Experience with policy enforcement operations.
  • Experience delivering results through cross-functional interactions with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Product Development, and other functions.
  • Ability to review or be exposed to sensitive content as part of our removal flows calibrations and escalation management.
  • Ability to communicate cross-functionally and operate in a fast-paced environment.

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. And you take pride in knowing that every day you are working hard to promote trust in Google and ensuring the highest levels of user safety.

As Policy Leads, we engage in data-driven analysis, work with outside experts, advocacy groups, and collaborate with product partners and cross-functional teams to transform Google's principles into fair and consistent policies.

You will be part of a team that supports a wide range of Google products including but not limited to Search, Ads, Google Play, Maps, Drive, Google Assistant, Chrome, Google Photos, and more.

You will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of policy issues such as privacy (e.g., Personalization), inclusion (e.g., self-Id), responsible development, content safety, abuse mitigation, hate speech, and misinformation.

We partner with teams across Google to deliver bold solutions in abuse areas such as malware, spam and account hijacking. A diverse team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, support the implementation, and analyze the effectiveness of policy by acting as a thought partner with various product and policy areas.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders including Engineers, Product and Sales managers, Public Policy, and Attorneys, to reach a consensus on various policy issues.
  • Resolve high-profile policy issues and escalations from users, the media, third-parties, and internal stakeholders.
  • Influence product design to build user trust and minimize harm consistent with Google’s core principles and values.
