Minimum qualifications:

  • JD or equivalent practical experience.
  • Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located.
  • 3 years of experience as an attorney, including government, in-house, and/or at a law firm.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Google products and the technology industry.
  • Familiarity with the discovery technology landscape.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, separately, and strategically.
  • Ability to identify issues, and develop reasonable and scalable solutions.
  • Excellent leadership and written/verbal communication skills.

About the job

The Discovery Attorney team at Google is dedicated to advising the company on a wide variety of legal discovery issues, including for litigation, regulatory inquiries, and internal investigations. In this role, you will ensure Google’s discovery practices are scalable and defensible. You will also work to proactively identify and prepare for emerging challenges in the discovery legal landscape.

Additional Information

(Colorado only*) Minimum salary range between $214,000 - $230,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.
*Note: Disclosure as required by sb19-085 (8-5-20) of the minimum salary compensation range for this role when being hired into our offices in Colorado.

Responsibilities

  • Help drive discovery best practices and identify emerging challenges. 
  • Manage discovery for litigation, government inquiries, and internal investigations.
  • Contribute to the development of defensible and scalable discovery workflows and quality control procedures.
  • Drive review projects, including delegating and directing the work of others.
  • Collaborate across Legal and Google to safeguard our data.
