Atlassian is looking to grow its Corporate Legal team with its first ever dedicated Atlassian Ventures legal team member! This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join the founding team of Atlassian Ventures and build and scale the Atlassian Ventures legal function and execute exciting deals at every stage along the way – from investment committee, to term sheet to public announcement. Matters You'll Take On:
- Partner with the Atlassian Ventures deal team to lead cross-functional teams to complete transactions in a timely and cost-efficient manner
- Evaluate, structure, negotiate, draft and provide advice on equity and debt venture investments
- Lead legal due diligence across cross-functional legal areas such as corporate, commercial, IP, export control by using internal legal specialists and outside counsel
- Develop and scale Atlassian Ventures legal and operations function and “future proof” it for additional volume and complexity
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Tax, Accounting, Total Rewards, Communications, Corporate Development, Product and Engineering to manage corporate transactions and initiatives
- Take ownership and accountability for key projects and decisions and see them through — doing the legwork to make sure that the appropriate stakeholders are engaged and providing rigorous follow through and iteration
- Own regulatory reporting and compliance matters related to Atlassian Ventures and its investment portfolio
- Support the Corporate legal team in additional corporate governance and disclosure matters, as needed
- Stay current on industry trends and best practices, including research or benchmarking projects
- JD and admission to one State Bar
- 7+ years relevant experience practicing corporate venture capital law, ideally at a leading law firm and in-house
- Highly collaborative, intellectually curious, and a great sense of humor
- Comfortable navigating complicated and nuanced issues
- Detail-oriented with excellent legal judgment, strong organizational skills and proven ability to deliver creative, thoughtful, and business-oriented results
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to connect with, and gain the respect of, stakeholders at all levels, including our Atlassian Ventures, product and partnerships teams
