Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in child exploitation investigations, analysis, forensics, or victim identification.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience collecting, managing, and synthesizing large and complex data sets and information from disparate sources.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders both inside and outside the company.
  • Ability to independently drive multiple investigations to resolution and handle a large workload.
  • Knowledge of online child safety standards, protocols, and organizations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Passion to protect children from abuse on Google platforms.

About the job

The Special Victims Investigations Group protects Google, our users, and children by investigating significant abuse and other malicious activity across Google’s products and services. Our team serves as the central point of contact for incidents involving potential data disclosure and/or law enforcement involvement. Investigations may also lead to civil remedies, product enforcement actions, and recommendations for improvements to systems and/or operational processes. Our team builds relationships with internal teams and relevant external entities to generate leads, share trends and intelligence, and establish a venue for law enforcement referrals. We ensure that investigative practices and any data disclosure to law enforcement respects user privacy, and complies with the law and Google policies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead investigations of child exploitation, threats of physical harm, fraud, criminal activity, and other malicious behavior that uses Google infrastructure, or targets Google products or users. Manage extensive, sensitive, and offensive content.
  • Generate leads from internal and external sources and drive cases to appropriate resolution.
  • Document and effectively communicate results of investigations to relevant stakeholders.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple investigations simultaneously.
  • Collaborate and build relationships with industry, academia, nonprofits and other entities.
