As a BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE ANALYST, within our dynamic legal department, you will be responsible for assisting management in the development of code-based logic to analyze large sets of data to generate reports, identify patterns, surface nefarious behavior and investigate matters related to the piracy of CoStar content and services.

This position requires interaction with staff at various levels and across multiple departments, in particular product development and IT security. You will need strong analytical skills as well as comfort and experience working with large data sets; this includes being able to work with, analyze and review data in excel as well as using and writing or editing SQL queries. You will be a part of a team that receives attention from all levels of company leadership. In the past years our work to combat content theft has been covered in the Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, NBC News and many other publications.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with anti-piracy initiatives to protect CoStar intellectual property.
  • Develop and implement SQL scripts, policies and procedures used in the identification, investigation, prevention and resolution of misuse of CoStar services and/or misappropriation of CoStar content.
  • Working collaboratively to translate business requirements into technical requirements.
  • Analyzing data to identify and interpret trends and patterns that lead to factual and actionable conclusions.
  • Assisting with litigation efforts, legal filings, subpoenas and responses by collecting and building records, exhibits as well as maintaining clear and contemporaneous records.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth working knowledge of the commercial real estate industry and CoStar’s business model / technology.
  • Communications with parties involved in the suspected misuse of CoStar services.

Qualifications

  • B.S., B.A. degree and or 1-3 years relevant experience working with, analyzing and modeling data.
  • Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient Microsoft SQL Server experience in developing, editing and running scripts.
  • Proficient Microsoft Excel skillset including usage of functions and data organization techniques.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with ability to be flexible and adapt to frequently changing workload and responsibilities.
  • The ability to develop, work with, analyze, translate and understand data.
  • Acute attention to detail. Curious, inquisitive and creative. Ability to multi-task.

 

Preferred Qualifications (nice to haves)

  • Knowledge related to real estate technology companies, products, services and competition.
  • Piracy detection skills, intellectual property licensing or anti-piracy experience.
