This is what you’ll do:

The Privacy Operations Manager will report to the Director, Privacy Operations, and will help to implement Rivian’s privacy operations and compliance efforts worldwide. This individual will interface directly with corporate and operational leadership to develop, implement, maintain, and ensure a best-in-class data privacy compliance program and help mitigate privacy risk throughout the organization. Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement privacy policies, procedures, controls, documentation, and guidance addressing Rivian’s data collection, use, and retention, among other topics.
  • Develop and implement privacy training and awareness initiatives, such as foundational privacy training, role-based training, and quarterly newsletters.
  • Actively promote the importance of data privacy throughout the entire organization through regular collaboration with Rivian Privacy Champions and product teams.
  • Manage privacy training completion, including tracking, reporting, follow-up, and escalation.
  • Support Privacy Committee operations, including preparation of materials and Committee record keeping.
  • Support the privacy review process (privacy impact assessment) for new products and services.
  • Update and maintain the Record of Processing Activities.
  • Support third-party risk management activities, such as vendor due diligence.
  • Develop and administer a Privacy Program Dashboard to track program and control effectiveness and provide regular monitoring and reporting to senior management.
  • Oversee consumer and employee privacy rights request processes consistent with legal requirements and best practices.
  • Work closely with Rivian’s Customer Support team to receive, track, respond to, and report on privacy-related inquiries.
  • Prepare detailed reporting on Rivian’s privacy program deliverables and objectives.
  • Develop strong partnerships with internal business clients across Rivian, including Legal, Operations, Engineering, Risk and Regulatory to develop planning and implementation systems that support compliance objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with Cybersecurity, Information Technology, People Team and other key stakeholders to further Rivian’s data privacy goals and objectives.

 

This is what you’ll need:

  • 7 -10 years total work experience, with at least 3 - 4 years of relevant privacy experience, preferably in fast-growing global organizations involving technology and manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of applicable global data privacy laws and requirements including the CCPA and GDPR with experience spotting emerging trends and new and evolving issues.
  • Experience with data privacy compliance training and oversight.
  • Understanding of key data privacy principles and best practices and how to implement them.
  • Experience authoring, implementing, and maintaining policies, procedures, and related compliance documentation.
  • Organizational, project management, strategic and operational planning skills with a deadline-centric and action-oriented mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to successfully work with all levels of the organization.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, with a focus on conciseness, clarity, and responsiveness.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office 360 Suite and familiarity with project management and reporting software such as SmartSheet and Tableau.
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team in a dynamic, rapidly changing workplace.
  • CIPP Certification a plus.
  • Ability to travel, as required.
