Albertsons Companies is committed to expanding opportunities and removing barriers for underrepresented talent in the legal field, including first generation college students. As part of this commitment, our Legal Department is looking for three talented law students who are about to finish their first year of law school. The Albertsons Companies Summer In-House Associate Program (“program”) is designed to provide candidates with meaningful experiences with exposure to each of the legal areas within Albertsons Companies Legal department - Commercial, Real Estate, Ethics & Compliance, Litigation, Field Operations and Employment, Pharmacy, Government Affairs, Privacy, Marketing, IP, and Corporate law. 

In-House Associates will have the opportunity to conduct legal research, present findings, work directly with our in-house counsel, and learn about what it takes for a legal department to support one of the top 10 retailers and one of the largest retail employers in the United States, including Safeway, Albertsons, Jewel-Osco and Vons. Albertsons Companies customers are continually becoming more digitally engaged as grocery shopping and lifestyle habits have changed. RESPONSIBILITIES

Core Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research on various issues impacting grocery, pharmacy, and technology companies.
  • Attend legal team meetings, Albertsons presentations, and other events.
  • Respond to day-to-day legal questions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications and Skills

  • Completed first year at an ABA accredited law school in good standing
  • Member of an underrepresented group, including first generation college students (a student who is in the first generation of their family to earn a bachelor’s degree and who is now earning a graduate degree)
  • Highly responsive, well organized and deadline driven
  • Good verbal and written skills; ability to interact well with others
  • Comfortable working in a remote environment
  • Available for in person meetings and events in D.C., Chicago, Boise, or Pleasanton throughout the summer
