The Legal Department of JPMorgan Chase & Co is responsible for the provision of legal services to the Corporation and is organized by practice groups that generally align with the Corporation’s lines of business and corporate staff areas.  This structure encourages legal teams and businesses and staff areas to discuss legal, regulatory and business developments effectively and in a timely manner.

The Legal Department is seeking a highly motivated individual to join its Auto legal team. The successful candidate will be a skilled lawyer with exceptional attention to detail and client-handling capability.  They will embrace a leadership role on their matters and seek out opportunities to develop new skills.  They will have a demonstrated ability to collaborate with and influence their peers.  They will have a sense of humor, an open mind, and a keen intellectual curiosity.

Responsibilities

  • Transactional Practice.  Drive transactions involving auto manufacturers, fintech companies, service providers, and other parties throughout the deal lifecycle, including structuring, negotiating, and drafting complex legal agreements.
  • Trusted Advisor.  Provide strategic counsel to Auto stakeholders on legal, marketing, data sharing, data use, privacy, and transactional issues.
  • Thought Leadership.  Develop and leverage legal and regulatory subject-matter expertise and an understanding of the auto and auto finance industries, and Chase’s processes and third-party requirements, to provide support to Auto clients.
  • Collaboration.  Collaborate with other legal teams and partners to ensure appropriate awareness and escalation of issues.
  • Other Duties.  All other duties as necessary or assigned in connection with legal support to the business.

Qualifications

  • JD or educational equivalent required. Attorney candidates must be in compliance with all relevant licensing requirements including the requirements of the jurisdiction where the role will be located prior to commencement of employment.
  • At least 6 years post-admission experience in a law firm or in-house.
  • Superior negotiation and contract-drafting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Expertise in counseling clients on contract interpretations, marketing, privacy, data sharing and use, and compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Experience working with and an affinity for technology.
  • Experience with agile teams and technology initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
  • All candidates for roles in the Legal department must successfully complete a conflicts of interest clearance review prior to commencement of employment.

Locations and Hybrid Working Model

  • The location for the position is Plano, Texas or Columbus, Ohio.
  • Chase’s Auto Legal Team employs a hybrid working model where individuals work three days a week in the office and two days remotely.
