This position has the responsibility of providing case processing support and database maintenance as part of the Medtronic Immigration Solutions Team’s (MIST) strategy to ensure streamlined and consistent immigration services to the greater Medtronic.  Coordination of numerous, multifaceted processes in partnership with MIST as well as Human Resources (HR), management and foreign national employees in order to prepare and file timely work visa petitions with various U.S. Government agencies.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

80% Case Processing/Docketing/File Maintenance

  • Case intake processing:
  • Receive information from Human Resource (HR) of new hire with immigration needs and initiate immigration case:
    • Open physical red-rope internal legal immigration file
    • Enter case data in legal case management (on-line) system (Tracker)
    • Contact HR, Managers and/or foreign national employee (FN) for additional required case information
    • Determine if case will be processed in-house with MIST paralegal or engage outside counsel directly
  • Collaborate directly with MIST paralegal or outside counsel providing case information
  • Monitor and update database and case steps from receipt notice to approval notices
  • Notify Foreign National (FN)/HR/Manager of all steps to approval
  • FedEx approval to FN Process
  • Notify all of I-9 requirements
  • Ensure all case information is entered into internal case management system (Tracker)
  • Store all case docs in respective electronic folders
  • File maintenance – ensure documentation is in corresponding physical file
  • Ensure LCA posting cert is obtained
  • Docket case to initiate permanent visa process pursuant to Medtronic Immigration Guidelines
  • Follow-up on U.S. Consulate cases; request visa stamp, I-94 from all FN’s exiting the U.S.
  • Faxing, scanning, copying, as needed for each case

10% Compliance

  • Monitor and maintain compliance requirements Labor Condition Application (LCA) postings for Department of Labor (DOL) with HR to ensure posting procedures are compliant for possible DOL Audits and site visits.

5% MIST Process Manual Maintenance (update processes as needed)

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree OR Paralegal Certification and 2+ years of immigration experience
Nice to Have
  • Prior Medtronic experience
  • 6 years of legal experience
  • Familiarity with Immigration Law Resources   
  • Case management experience
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills
  • Excellent planning, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Database Management Experience
  • Experienced in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
