We are hiring a Product Counsel to join the legal department in this fast growing, truly globally distributed company! This position is ideal for a self-sufficient and resourceful mid-level attorney located anywhere in the United States or Canada.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Counsel product management, engineering, support, and services teams on legal issues arising throughout the product development lifecycle, with a focus on business models, licensing, compliance, and data collection and use.
  • As a true business partner, thinking around corners, draft and maintain terms for new products and services and/or new features in existing products.
  • Review and negotiate agreements involving product development, including for product integrations with partners, as applicable.
  • Support M&A-related integration activities (e.g., product-related due diligence, product legal integration).
  • Partner with co-workers, in a company culture that is open, welcoming and unequaled.

What You Bring Along:

  • Experience advising technology companies on legal aspects of software and SaaS product development, either in house or at a law firm (approximately 3-5 years).
  • Privacy experience is a plus, but is not required.
  • Familiarity with, or desire to learn about, search, “big data”, artificial intelligence (e.g., machine learning), cloud and open source products.
  • Good judgment and the ability to balance legal risks with business goals.
  • Ability to flexibly prioritize and handle ambiguity.
  • Enthusiasm for cross-functional collaboration and team work.

The typical starting Total Cash Compensation range for new hires in this role is between $106,800 and $146,900, which consists of a Base Salary or a Base Salary plus a Target Commission, depending on the specific role. The Base Salary offered may vary depending on factors including skills and experience.

Additionally, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic’s equity plan as well as a range of health & wellbeing, retirement savings, and other benefits within a holistic total rewards offering.
