Job Description

Role Purpose

NBCUniversal seeks a dynamic Senior Manager, State and Local Public Policy to support the company’s state and local government affairs efforts. The Senior Manager will be focused on identifying and analyzing legislation, policies, regulations, and policy programs aligned with or harmful to the company's strategic corporate and/or business interests. The Senior Manager will actively contribute to shaping policy during the legislative process, and will build trusted relationships with government officials to lead to meaningful legislative outcomes. Additionally, the position will look for opportunities to expand our state/local visibility and reputation as a premier destination for trustworthy news, information and entertainment content, as well as an attractive global employer.

This role will report to the VP, Government Affairs and matrix report to the department’s SVP, Head of Global Production External Affairs and State and Local Government Affairs.

With the department’s 50-state mandate in mind, teamwork is not an aspirational concept, but the standard operating procedure embraced by the department. The Senior Manager should possess a “no drama” temperament when collaborating with department colleagues to properly fulfill the core “early warning” mission. The Senior Manager is expected to efficiently identify relevant bills from a high volume of legislation and policy proposals introduced each year in the state legislatures and localities.

The Senior Manager should also exhibit sound judgement, discretion, and interpersonal skills when working with internal and external stakeholders. The Senior Manager will design an advocacy plan in collaboration with the VP, and own the plan’s execution.
