Responsibilities:

  • Assist with all aspects of trademark registration matters, including trademark prosecution, maintenance, renewals, conflicts, and chain of title maintenance, etc.

  • Assist with all aspects of title, editorial, and trademark clearance, etc., including perform searches, analyze search results, and draft opinions for attorney review.

  • Provide guidance on complex, high-profile and sensitive trademark matters, and devise viable creative strategies and solutions.

  • Liaise with outside counsel.

  • Assist with researching, authenticating, gathering, and documenting trademark evidence.

  • Assist with drafting correspondence and legal documents for attorney review. 

  • Prepare summaries and reports, as needed.

  • Perform data entry, docket deadlines, and assist with trademark database maintenance, etc.

  • Assist with other IP-related projects, as may be necessary from time to time.

Candidate should possess the following qualifications:

  • At least 7 years paralegal experience with an emphasis on trademark and clearance work

  • Deep knowledge of global trademark laws and requirements

  • Deep operational knowledge, and deep knowledge of Disney’s legal practices and the broader business

  • Demonstrated ability to present arguments and information to help shape strategic decisions and proven success in judgment and handling complex trademark matters

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent research skills, analytical skills, and attention to detail

  • Superior organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize workload

  • Ability to handle a high volume of deadline-intensive work, and excellent follow-up and follow-through skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Self-starter with an excellent work ethic and commitment to professionalism

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office software programs, Adobe software, trademark database software, billing software, document management software, and online research skills

  • Willingness to learn and use new research materials and practice tools

Education:

  • BA/BS degree

  • ABA-approved Paralegal Certification
