Affirm’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team establishes risk frameworks and standards, and provides guidance for risk management activities across the company. ERM assists management with identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple business areas, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

We’re seeking an Enterprise Risk Program Lead to support fundamental ERM programs.

This position is remote and will report to Sr Operational Risk Manager. In this role you will work cross-functionally and support the development, implementation, training, and maintenance of various ERM programs.

What You’ll Do:

Supporting the Issues Management Program by:

  • Refining program standards and requirements for how issues are identified, assessed, addressed and reported
  •  Facilitating a cross-functional Issue Management Working Group and providing the business input to influence issue analysis and remediation 
  • Identifying issue trends and themes and creating reports and dashboards for Risk Committee reporting 

Supporting the Policy Governance Program by:

  • Maintaining a Policy Inventory to ensure company awareness and access to policies
  • Developing and driving a Policy Review Schedule to ensure policies stay relevant
  • Coordinating policy reviews for external partners as well as Risk Committee members
  • Maintaining Affirm’s Policy Framework to account for new business requirements and/or enhancements to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness
  • Training the business on policy standards and best practices

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Handling internal and external audit requests related to ERM
  • Preparing responses for new market or business requests related to ERM
  • Supporting projects or other ERM programs as necessary

What We Look For:

  • 4-6 years of risk management experience, preferably in the financial services industry
  • Experience with using and/ or designing GRC tools and processes 
  • Effective communicator with strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to independently build and own process(es) from the ground up in an ambiguous and fast paced environment
  • Passion for risk management and improving processes in order to make Affirm a more efficient and risk aware organization
  • Self-starter with the desire to ramp up quickly, collaborate, influence and execute
  • Ability to think “big picture” while still being able to think through the details to propose effective solutions and drive implementation

We are currently building operations in Spain, Poland, and Australia.  Employees in remote roles have the option of working remotely or from an Affirm office in their country of hire, and may occasionally travel to an Affirm office or elsewhere for required meetings or team-building events. Our offices in Chicago, New York, Pittsburgh, Salt Lake City, San Francisco and Toronto will remain operational and accessible for anyone to use on a voluntary basis, subject to local COVID-19 guidelines.
