The Legal Intern role at Sierra Space is a unique opportunity for law students interested in exploring the day-to-day work of an in-house legal department for a leading Spacetech company. Our Legal Intern will have the opportunity to work on legal research, writing, and other key projects to support our mission of building a platform in space to benefit life on Earth. Sierra Space aims to build the future of space transportation, commercial space destinations and the enabling technologies that will help to build a vibrant, growing and accessible commercial space economy. As a Legal Intern, you will have the unique opportunity to dig into the complex legal framework surrounding our mission and to support our organization through interesting, critical assignments in areas such as space law, intellectual property law, government contracts, and M&A. During the summer, you will hone your fundamental legal skills, build your in-house counsel foundation through practice and mentorship, and have other unique opportunities to learn about Sierra Space’s business and culture. The Legal Intern role will be in-person and based out of our office in Broomfield, Colorado. Our summer internships typically last 10-12 weeks and begin in late May or early June.

Primary Responsibilities:
Assist our legal team in solving challenging problems across a variety of substantive areas that are critical to our organization’s success, such as space law, intellectual property, government contracts, and M&A
Keep our legal and business teams apprised of important substantive legal developments that impact our day-to-day business in Colorado and across the U.S.
Prepare contract documents to support critical business needs and revise corporate policies and other key documents in response to changing legal and regulatory landscapes
Play a critical role in our robust intellectual property program
Assist with corporate governance matters and other organizational issues that are critical responsibilities for our in-house legal team
Must-haves:
Strong interest in and desire to learn more about in-house legal practice in a leading Spacetech company
Currently enrolled within law school and completed one year (or more)
Top 25% in class rank (if class rank is available) or a minimum of a 3.30 GPA (absent other exceptional qualifications)
Excellent analytical and writing skills
Proficient legal research skills
Strong communication and leadership skills demonstrated through leadership positions in community, school, or other programs
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to follow through on all assignments, manage multiple projects simultaneously and establish priorities

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $17.60 - $30.80
