The Location
This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. Airbnb,Inc. can employ in states where we have registered entities. Currently, employees can not be located in: Alaska, Indiana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Delaware and Rhode Island. The Job
The Legal Investigations associate will manage day-to-day investigative functions for the Litigation team. This role will work closely with our regional and global Legal teams, in addition to working with the Airbnb Capability Center Team.
The Investigations associate will also be responsible for providing key investigative information for legal matters including user demands and litigation complaints. You will also assist legal by taking action on accounts as directed in order to resolve pre-litigation consumer demands, complaints and other issues.
As a Legal Investigations associate you are expected to uphold the professionalism and confidentiality of the department at the highest level. You’ll engage with senior stakeholders for the resolution of problems and supporting the legal stakeholders with knowledge and expertise on a wide range of topics.
Responsibilities
- Manage complex, sensitive, and/or urgent investigations and cases that might pose a significant risk to our brand or ability to operate in different countries, cities, and municipalities. Conduct quality reviews and provide advice on best practices.
- Own case management for highly sensitive cases when the expertise is required.
- Proactively investigate service issues, risk for disruption and advise on service improvement for internal operations.
- Support fast track changes by engaging with stakeholders and coordinate cross functional efforts at the direction of legal; act as a subject matter expert on tactical changes and decisions.
- Provide mentorship to our Airbnb Capability Center, acting as an escalated support system for Investigations & Resolutions Team.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert for training and quality purposes; continuously maintain and develop expertise by staying abreast of updates and operational changes.
- Advocate for global alignment while solving for regional and local nuances. Promote collaboration and dialogue among the regions.
- Represent Airbnb as a witness in declarations, depositions, hearings, and trials.
- Actively develop collaborative stakeholder relationships.
About You
- Minimum 3-4 years' experience working in a legal, policy or regulatory fields preferred
- Availability to work 40 hours a week
- Strong analytical skills and SQL expertise, able to compile reports and analyze data preferred.
- Ability to prepare concise, accurate and relevant reports for Legal based on platform investigations and understanding of claims/requests.
- Familiarity with the complicated operation of our platform, understand and be comfortable explaining Airbnb’s legal positions.
- Experience in legal/policy/consumer bodies issues and how they apply to Airbnb and the sharing economy.
- Experience with a wide variety of web-based platforms and systems. The ability to learn these systems quickly and obtain expert-level knowledge, as needed.
- Strong attention to detail - ability to identify and flag potential risks and problematic facts.
- Fluency in other languages is a plus.

The Pay
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting hourly rate for this role is between $30.29 per hour and $37.98 per hour. The actual hourly rate is dependent upon many factors, such as: education, experience, and skills. The hourly rate is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
