Corporate Counsel - Remote
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Corporate Counsel’s primary areas of responsibility are (i) Cartus’ compliance with laws, including data protection, economic sanctions and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act; (ii) Client contracting; (iii) Supply chain and other vendor contracting; and (iv) General legal support to Cartus.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create and maintain legal compliance programs with a focus on data protection, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and global economic sanctions.
Draft and negotiate client contracts.
Support supply chain management with vendor contracting and issue resolution.
Data breach review and response.
Review and respond to client-issued requests for proposals.
Provide general legal support to the organization with respect to primary areas of responsibility and other legal areas as needed.
Maintain knowledge of laws affecting Cartus, including data protection laws, TUPE, FCPA, Sarbanes Oxley, RESPA, and IRS Home Sale taxability rules.
Work on other special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/SELECTION CRITERIA:
Minimum 10 years of experience.
Admitted as a member of the Connecticut Bar or other applicable State Bar.
Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Knowledge of applicable data protection laws, including GDPR and CCPA, and also Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and global economic sanctions.
Demonstrated experience with contract drafting.
Real Estate experience and RESPA knowledge useful.
Excellent communication skills, including strong oral, written and consultative skills.
Leadership skills as demonstrated by the ability to manage and influence others.
