Vice President Assistant General Counsel - Litigation

Posted Nov 17 Assistant General Counsel is responsible for working on a broad range of complex legal issues related to employment, including without limitation to litigation and risk management, advice and counseling, legal research and compliance related matters.
Base Salary $215,000 to $240,000
Responsibilities
- Performs all aspects of legal services in assigned areas of legal specialization and is primarily responsible for developing and representing the organization’s legal positions in such areas as:
- Provides input and legal advice on business strategy, strategic plan development and implementation and other business issues including legal assessments, solutions-oriented risk mitigation strategies and messaging
- Handles a wide variety of claims by or against the organization that may include civil litigation, administrative hearings, arbitrations, contract claims, collection matters, and related discovery and depositions
- Collaborates and provides advice and counsel to other Advantage executives on employee matters and on investigations
- Strategically manages outside counsel in the representation of the organization
- Analyzes and assists with maintaining forms and agreement templates up-to-date with respect to applicable laws and best practices
- May review, develop or implement company-wide and/or functionally specific training and compliance programs, and
- Keeps current on legislative issues, statutes, decisions and ordinances of quasi-judicial bodies
- Accountable for the supervision, training and development of direct reports including conducting performance reviews
Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate Degree from and ADA accredited law school, excellent academic achievement and a member of the State Bar, and currently in good standing
- 8+ years as Practicing Attorney with experience in a law firm and in-house experience
- Ability to ensure high levels of service and quality are maintained
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong prioritization skills
- Ability to work effectively with Management
- Track record of building and maintaining customer/client relationships
- Ability to work independently and prioritize with minimal supervision in order to meet deadlines
- Basic computer skills including MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Outlook and web browsers
