A Day in the Life…

The intern will assist a team of lawyers, paralegals, and professional support staff in one of several areas of the Disney legal team: 

  • Support the administering of the Company’s compliance program and partnering with business teams to ensure compliance with the Company’s Standards of Business Conduct and other compliance policies, as well as applicable legal and regulatory obligations;

  • Support the Privacy Legal team, which provides privacy and data security legal advice to the Company’s businesses around the globe in all varieties of contexts, including new and advanced technologies, advertising and marketing, content distribution, cybersecurity and incident response, personnel and vendor management, and product development, operation, and distribution.  ;

  • Support the Intellectual Property team, which advises on a range of copyright, trademark, and right of publicity issues related to the development, production, marketing and distribution of motion pictures, television shows, online content, games and related consumer products; and

  • Support the business of distribution, including content licensing and acquisitions, direct-to-consumer streaming (e.g., Disney+ and Hulu), marketing, network operations, and advertising sales. 

Together, these teams are responsible for providing support for the Company’s domestic and international businesses, including Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, Walt Disney Studios, Marvel Studios, Pixar, LucasFilm, 20th Century Studios, Searchlight Pictures, ESPN, ABC, FX, National Geographic, Disney+, Hulu, and many more.

We’re looking for energetic, self-motivated and reliable individuals who can work closely with other senior attorneys, and with other internal groups, and will exercise the highest level of ethics and discretion.  The specific qualities include:

  • Professionalism and maintenance of absolute confidentiality;

  • Extremely well organized and attentive to detail and nuance;

  • Excellent verbal and written skills;

  • Excellent analytical skills, especially in legal analysis

  • Excellent research skills; resourceful

  • Strong organizational skills with ability to handle and follow through on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment; detail-oriented

  • Ability to excel in a collaborative environment;

  • Willingness to assist the entire team when and as needed.

Required Education:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited U.S. law school, with completion of first year (1L) by the start of the internship.

The pay rate for this internship in New York is $40.40 per hour.

Internship Eligibility:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship​

  • The approximate dates of this internship are May/June 2023 through August 2023

  • Candidate must be available to work full time hours (approximately 40 hours per week)

  • The internships will be on-site work will be in New York City, NY.

  • Must provide own housing for the duration internship program​ in the New York City area

  • Must have reliable transportation to/from work​
