Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions
of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

We’re looking for a senior compliance professional experienced in
advising product, engineering, and operational teams on regulatory
compliance, risk, and control development to support our Global Product Compliance function.

What you’ll do

You will partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to design
and enhance Stripe’s products in a way that both delights users and
meets all relevant regulatory compliance obligations. You will embed
with Stripe product teams, building new and innovative products to help to identify, track, and implement compliance requirements, while
supporting those teams in building and deploying monitoring tools to
ensure ongoing compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Embed with Stripe product teams to advise on risk and control design and, where necessary, build and deploy those controls
  • Lead product governance efforts on behalf of Stripe’s Compliance organization, including documenting requirements and tracking them through implementation
  • Provide operational and compliance subject matter support to
cross-functional teams as they design and implement workflows, tooling, and reporting
  • Liaise closely with Regional Compliance Officers to support execution of our regulatory compliance oversight programs
  • Support the Global Product Compliance function in defining and
achieving departmental initiatives, maintaining product support
playbooks and best practices, developing and documenting scalable solutions, and liaising with external parties
  • Interface with Stripe’s external partners with respect to compliance obligations and provide reporting on the status of Stripe’s programs as required
  • Contribute to building a strong culture of compliance across Stripe’s teams

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are
encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a
requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 8+ years of experience working in compliance advisory role, ideally in a financial technology company
  • Demonstrated track record of working with product organizations on regulatory compliance matters including, but not limited to: financial crimes, licensing requirements, regulatory reporting, financial product obligations, consumer compliance, conduct risk, complaints handling, money transmission / e-money rules
  • Experience evaluating emerging products for compliance risk, working with the product and business stakeholders to implement creative solutions to tough compliance requirements, and conducting compliance reviews of new products and marketing materials
  • Comfort with building or expanding on existing compliance program infrastructure to incorporate oversight of new products and services, including developing new processes and workflows
  • The ability to identify and define problems, build project plans to address them, and manage implementation of their solutions
  • The ability to effectively communicate across various lines of
    business and senior management
  • An ambitious sense of curiosity and a willingness to explore areas outside of your comfort zone, like new markets or new product types
  • The ability to work efficiently and independently in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment, with a strong understanding of when to escalate urgent issues
  • Respect for and interest in financial rules and regulations, as well as an eagerness to innovate and drive the industry forward

Preferred qualifications

  •  Financial compliance, operational, regulatory, management consulting, or legal experience
  •  ACAMS, CRCM or equivalent certification
  • SQL and/or Excel skills
