What you'll do

DocuSign, Inc., the global leader in developing the next generation Agreement Cloud, is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic intern to work with its in-house legal team. The intern will have exposure to attorneys and projects in each of the major practice areas of the legal department.

Projects relating to Corporate, securities, employment & litigation will include securities regulation, SEC filings, ’33/’34 Act matters, corporate development (M&A, investments), employment law and compliance matters Projects relating to Product, innovation services & regulatory affairs will include fundamental issues relating to foundational topics such as e-signature legality, artificial intelligence, contract lifecycle management, best practices in legal tech and operations, marketing and public relations topics, product and public sector compliance issues, and cutting-edge intellectual property, data governance and privacy and information security issues. The Intern also will have opportunities to do technology-related transactional work.

Projects relating to Global commercial contracts will include research, contributing to forms development, playbooks and process enhancements, and opportunities to participate in a range of SaaS software contract negotiations

We are a highly collaborative legal team, so the intern will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects across functional areas, with an opportunity to tailor the experience to align with the intern’s interests, skills and background.

This paid internship is for Summer 2023 with the possibility of extending into a part-time Fall/Spring semester opportunity.

This position is an Individual Contributor reporting to Senior Director & Associate General Counsel, Innovation Services and is designated Flex.


Responsibility

  • Conduct legal research on important company topics
  • Project manage tasks and projects
  • Work on current and next generation legal technologies
  • Assist with the drafting and negotiation of agreements, filings, corporate consents, employment and policy materials, and other documents

 

What you bring

Basic

  • Be a full-time law student at an ABA-accredited law school
  • This role is not eligible for CPT, OPT or sponsorship now or in the future


Preferred

  • Experience in the tech industry or previous experience in a corporate legal department
  • Talent for thinking outside of the box in researching legal issues
  • Able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Project management skills
  • Interest and willingness to embrace new technologies to help further operationalize team processes
  • Passion for tackling issues of first impression and/or foundational legal issues

This position is not eligible for employment in the following states: Alaska, Hawaii, Maine, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia and Wyoming.

This role is eligible for bonus, equity andbenefits.

Based on legislation in Colorado, the following details are for Colorado individuals only: Colorado pay range: $34/hour - $35/hour

Based on legislation in New York City, the following details are for individuals who reside and would be working in New York City only: New York City pay range: $36/hour - $38/hour

Based on legislation in Washington state the following details are for individuals who reside and would be working in Washington only: Washington pay range: $34/hour - $38/hour

Based on legislation in California the following details are for individuals who reside and would be working in California only: California pay range: $36/hour - $43/hour
