Maravai LifeSciences is seeking an Intellectual Property Operations Manager to join our growing team. The Manager of Intellectual Property Operations will develop, and support processes and procedures related to patents, trademarks, and trade secrets.  In this role, you will streamline existing legal tools and processes and implement new legal tools and processes to manage IP prosecution and litigation.  Responsibilities include working closely with and supporting all levels of attorneys and legal professionals as well as internal clients and external partners to ensure seamless and professional handling of legal matters. 

Description of Duties:

  • Implement and manage IP Folio docketing system and external communications database.
  • Maintain internal records and information.
  • Manage, monitor, and follow-up on dates associated with US and foreign patent, trademark, and litigation dockets.
  • Manage, monitor, and follow-up on correspondence to and from outside counsel, vendors, internal clients, and external partners.
  • Handle annuities, billing, and formalities including assignments, declarations, and powers of attorney.
  • Prepare and file forms with the USPTO including transmittal cover sheets, assignments, declarations, powers of attorney, and information disclosure statements.
  • Support diligence and transactional efforts including preparation of family trees and patent schedules.
  • Manage and collaborate with outside counsel, vendors, internal clients, and external partners.
  • Perform other functions and duties as required.

 Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or extensive equivalent professional experience
  • 8+ years of relevant IP administrative experience, including at least 2 years in IP operations.
  • Knowledge of USPTO, PCT, and EPO rules, regulations, and procedures; some experience with EPO oppositions a plus
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular); USPTO electronic resources; DocuSign; some experience with IP Folio, Foundation IP, and SharePoint a plus
  • Licensed California Notary preferred.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Collaborative work style, with a strong ability to build relationships, gain credibility, and partner with internal clients.
  • Ability to summarize detailed data into an actionable recommendation for a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, results, and deadline driven environment.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $98,000 - $130,000.  In addition, highly competitive long-term incentives in the form of company equity, bonus participation and company sponsored benefits are provided as part of the total compensation package.  The salary offer will depend on multiple factors which may include the successful candidate's skills, experience and other qualifications, as well as the location of the role.
