We’re looking for a Legal Intern to join our team for Summer 2023 in NYC. You will embed with the business and work closely with your legal colleagues and partners in Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Security, and other teams to provide advice on legal and regulatory requirements throughout product life cycles.
You will support complex, cross-functional projects that involve a range of legal and business issues at the intersection of technology and financial services. Our ideal candidate is interested in technology and financial services, is cross-functional and able to work closely with non-lawyers, and is eager to pitch in wherever necessary. This includes brushing up on new and unfamiliar areas of law and regulation, handling operational work, and getting to know the ins and outs of the business.
What You’ll Do
- Provide legal research and analysis for licensing requirements (e.g., money transmission, lending, and servicing and collections licenses), regulatory issues (e.g., privacy and financial regulation), and/or international expansion (e.g., Canada, Europe, etc.)
- Support marketing teams, develop content policies, and review marketing collateral
- Assist in NDA and marketing reviews, compliance reporting, and dispute analysis
- Create content and train internal teams on legal topics including product development, intellectual property, privacy, and financial regulation
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders on various cross-functional projects
- Develop recommendations that understand and balance risk
What You Need
- Be a current law student (1L or 2L)
- Attend a top-ranked law school or have demonstrated academic excellence
- Be available for a 2-3 month summer commitment
- High level of intellectual curiosity
- Willingness to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty
- Eagerness to work independently without extensive supervision
- Ability to communicate easily and effectively
Nice to Haves
- Experience at a tech company, in financial services, and/or as a paralegal, or have other relevant experience
- Interest in startups, fintech, and/or other technology-related issues.

Compensation
- The hourly rate for this internship in NYC is $65 USD + housing stipend
