Who we are looking for

A Paralegal will have responsibility for the provision of day-to-day support to the Procurement, Technology and Intellectual Property Legal Team in North America. The Paralegal must demonstrate an ability to work with general direction from attorneys or other experienced paralegals, and must be adept at juggling priorities for multiple clients and projects in order to meet increasing demand and deadlines.

The team you will be joining plays an important role in the overall success of the organization, and in the success of the Legal Division specifically. The Procurement, Technology and Intellectual Property Legal team negotiates contracts, performing regulatory analysis, and resolving issues related to licensing, outsourcing, consulting, procurement and similar engagements with technology, service and other providers. We advise on issues related to technology, data security and privacy matters; manage corporate intellectual property activities; and, as needed, participate in related aspects of corporate and business unit projects, strategic initiatives and M&A activities across State Street’s global operations. In your role, you will support the lawyers and the business people by drafting and reviewing documentation, and helping to manage the distribution of legal work.

What you will be responsible for

As an Officer and Paralegal, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing workflow and assignments

  • Reviewing and preparing drafts of certain agreements

  • Working with business colleagues

  • Drafting miscellaneous documents

  • Reviewing documentation submitted by the business

  • Working at the general direction of attorneys

  • Participate in special projects to solve specific problems and issues as they arise

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of experience as a paralegal; prior experience with financial services, technology and/or intellectual property preferred. 

  • Bachelor's degree. 

  • Superior communication, client service, drafting and writing skills, attention to detail and fiduciary sensibility.

Salary Range:

$65,000 - $102,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
