We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced legal operations professional to launch and lead the legal operations function at Articulate. We’re looking for an enthusiastic self-starter to help set the strategy for the legal team’s workflows and operations infrastructure, and ensure the legal team is operating efficiently. You will build strong relationships with the various stakeholders on the Legal team, as well as other functions and key stakeholders across the broader organization.  And you will drive efficiency and productivity by implementing a state-of-the-art technology infrastructure, streamlining and automating processes, and improving knowledge management and sharing capabilities thereby improving communications and collaboration for the Articulate Legal team. 

 

What you'll do

  • Setting the strategy for, launching and leading the Legal Operations function in a growing global SaaS company to improve the legal team’s efficiency and effectiveness, setting the legal team up for sustained success in support of Articulate’s continued growth.
  • Advising, identifying and implementing methods to improve department efficiency and productivity
  • Maintaining legal workflows and documentation, leveraging in-house and vendor technology, particularly in the vendor management and commercial transactions areas
  • Managing department technology initiatives including knowledge management and contract management
  • Lead strategies/programs to manage expenses and performance (e.g., scorecard) of outside counsel and other legal vendors
  • Understand team financial targets, analyzing financial trends, identifying shortfalls (including creating action plans to address shortfalls, if needed)
  • Identify technology needs and simplification opportunities for the Legal team
  • Manage department OKRs, metrics, benchmarking and reporting
  • Implement training and professional development initiatives, including coordination of legal team events
  • Participate in industry legal operations conferences, industry benchmarking studies, and create a network to provide recommendations on best practices
  • Manage Legal intranet site, including Legal team-owned employee resources – i.e., company policies and procedure documentation.

 

What you should have

  • 8+ years’ experience in legal operations or legal program management, including hands on experience managing legal or operational programs/projects/processes
  • Passionate about testing new ideas and innovating to drive results
  • E-billing, vendor management platform implementation and management experience (Legal Tracker preferred), including understanding of billing guidelines and rules, ability to evaluate and negotiate billing rates
  • Experience creating, implementing and/or driving vendor engagement programs 
  • Strong communication and influencing skills combined with demonstrated problem-solving ability
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong organizational and execution skills and ability to deliver to deadlines and manage competing priorities
  • Familiarity with legal technology solutions (including contract management)
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent business judgment and strategic thinker who has a proactive approach to recognizing needs, solving problems, anticipating issues
  • Ability to analyze data and propose methods for continuous improvement
  • Growth mindset with an ability to work in a fast moving and changing environment
  • Able to build relationships, develop credibility with internal clients and legal team

 

You're the ideal candidate if you have

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 10+ years of relevant experience (including at least 8+ years in Legal Operations).
  • Experience supporting VP+ level 
  • Experience supporting remote workers
  • Experience in a growing, global software development environment is preferred
