Get to Know the Opportunity

The Voya Investment Management Leveraged Credit Group (the “Group”) is headquartered in Scottsdale AZ.  The Group manages approximately $24.0 billion in Leveraged Credit assets managed in over 57 funds across multiple distribution channels, as well as high yield bond assets The Group consists of 50 investment professionals and 33 dedicated support staff. Within the Group, a specialized team structures, analyzes, and manages collateralized loan obligations (“CLOs”).  The Group also has a significant loan restructuring practice.

The Legal Assistant would report to the Group’s Legal Affairs Officer (the “GLAO”). They will support the GLAO by providing settlements, CLO creation, contract, recordkeeping, and business support.  The Legal Assistant will become knowledgeable about the legal underpinnings of the Group, and will support the GLAO in the provision of work product and legal advice by drafting and maintaining legal documents under the direction of the GLAO, obtaining data from third party service providers, and assisting in regulatory reporting.

Please Note: This position has been designated as a hybrid-office/home role. Details of your in-office schedule will be finalized with your manager.

 

The Contributions You'll Make:

Duties may include, among others, those outlined below.

  • Administer the Group’s anti-money laundering compliance program, to including responding to “know-your-customer” requests

  • Review and approve senior loan settlements documents, to include analyzing and commenting on LSTA/LMA loan documentation

  • Provide legal support to facilitate deal generation in the CLO space and to senior lenders in the context of Chapter 11 restructurings

  • Provide documents drafting, legal and record-keeping support to the Global CLO team, the Loan Settlements team, and the Operations team

  • Assist in the drafting of legal materials, including contracts, subscription agreements and committee minutes, related to, among other things, CLOs and bankruptcy work-outs and filings

  • Serve as the point person for assuring that regulatory and court-related filings are completed correctly and on a timely basis

  • Finalize legal documents and obtain signatures

  • Organize and maintain legal files; obtain, organize and store legal documents for all Group activities

  • Maintain up-to-date tax forms and fund documents for loan transactions

  • Act as a liaison with Voya’s Operational Risk Management and Compliance functions

  • Review and proofread materials

  • Assist in responding to legal and compliance-related inquiries

  • Perform legal research, analysis, and other legal duties as assigned

 

Minimum Knowledge & Experience

  • College degree and/or relevant experience

  • Self-starter with the ability to perform independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

  • Must be highly detail oriented and adept at producing quality written work under challenging time constraints

  • Strong proficiency in MS Office, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat

  • Analytical, research-oriented with strong problem solving skills

  • Team player with the ability to handle multiple tasks and at times work independently in a fast-paced environment with firm deadlines

  • Strong  organizational skills; ability to prioritize a high volume of tasks and information with excellent attention to detail

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and teamwork capabilities

 

Preferred Knowledge & Experience

  • Paralegal certificate preferred

  • Experience with chapter 11 workouts and/or in the investment management or finance industry preferred

  • Notary a plus

 

Compensation Pay Disclosure:

Voya is committed to pay that’s fair and equitable, which means comparable pay for comparable roles and responsibilities.

The below annual base salary range reflects the expected hiring range(s) for this position in the location(s) listed. In addition to base salary, Voya offers incentive opportunities (i.e., annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long-term incentives) based on the role to reward the achievement of annual performance objectives. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Voya Financial is willing to pay at the time of this posting.

Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted salary range based upon the candidate’s geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

$55,000 - $70,000 USD
